Sleepy Cam

He’s still trying to sleep. He always comes out of anesthesia very tired. He’s taking some Tylenol and a little water to see how he is feeling.

Huge Update

I’ve been busy and missed a few things. Cam came into recovery around 1PM. They then whisked him more or less straight to his monitoring room instead of a long PICU stay like last time (~24 hours).

I was out helping my Mom get some food in the hotel room and stuff while we thought Mandy was the only person in recovery. She got to talk to him a bit but then he wanted to sleep and recover from being tired.

Mandy is getting ready to head back and my Mom has gotten permission to be in Cam’s room with me, so that’s a huge relief.

At this point, it’s just waiting for him to wake and try some food.

Cameron is nearly done

Just had the consult with Dr. Adelson. Procedure went well in his opinion. They were able to place 10 leads into the right side of his brain. He is off to a CT scan to make sure there is no bleeding and then he’ll be off to recovery.

We are grabbing a quick lunch while we wait. There can only be one person in recovery, so Mandy will go up first until she is happy with Cam‘s progress and then she will leave for Flagstaff. I’ll stay here until he gets out of recovery and then when he gets into his monitoring room, my Mom can help me take turns watching him.

Update on procedure

Just got a note from the nurse that the procedure is going well and is almost complete. We should be hearing from the surgeon in awhile.

And he is off to surgery

Mandy and I just left him as his surgical nurse wheeled his bed back to the op room. Now we wait…

We will get periodic updates as time goes on. Mandy has left to get some breakfast and then I’ll go when she gets back.

Pre-Op Consult Done

Just spoke to Dr. Adelson about the plan for today. Should be 3-3.5 hours. Planning on 8-12 leads in his head. They are confident they are in the right area and hopefully this will further outline where the activity is coming from.

Pre-Op

He is gowned up and going through the vitals and questions that are typical.

The calm before the surgery

Cam was able to get to up and start showering. Hopefully he gets his hair real clean during.

As we were coming back from dinner last night, Cam had a big partial seizure. It still scares my Mom a bit when those happen because she’s not used to seeing them. He seemed fine but he was awful grumpy afterwards which isn’t surprising given the time and all the travel yesterday. Hopefully he’ll be in a decent mood this morning.

He has a 7AM check-in for a 9:30 surgery slot. I’ll have more updates as he get closer to that. Only two adults can be with him most of the time, with only one while he is in his recovery room. We will be juggling bodies as best we can to see him throughout the day. It’ll be better when he is in his monitoring room tomorrow when we can go back to two in the room.

Made it to Phoenix

It’s a long drive, but we made it to our hotel room, right across from the hospital. We are out eating a nice meal and then we will put Cam to bed. We have to be at the hospital at 7AM.
