Back to Normal

That means he’s back to being angry at me, which is the usual lately.

He is back in his main room and is able to play video games and start to sip liquids and eat a cracker or two, which is a big first step. He’s had some morphine just to help with the probe wounds, which are irritating him.

Overall, things went as expected. Just have to wait things out until the morning for discharge.

In Recovery

His probe sites are bothering him a lot and there is a young child in the bay next to us who is crying and irritating him so we are trying to get him back to his PEMU room ASAP. He looks good and is just real tired.

Procedure Over

Just waiting for word on when I can go back to the recovery room. Just need to work with the surgeon’s office on scheduling the laser ablation later on. I’ll likely call on Friday.

Removal underway

About 20 minutes I left him in Pre-Op. Cam is tired and a bit hungry but he’s also ready to go home.

Prepping for removal

They are removing all the wires from Cam’s head now. All that is left is the probes. We will have to do one more antiseptic wide down and change of gown.

Morning Update

The ‘normal’ docs came around and as I started typing, his usual specialist, Dr. Williams also checked in.

He’s actually on IV fluids now, hoping to get him into the OR around 1PM, based on schedules and stuff, so there is that. Cam is still sleeping, so I am hoping he stays that way awhile to rest and not have time to worry about food.

The great news is that the new partial from last night looked similar to the previous one, which helps give us comfort that we have the right areas to go after and that they are consistent.

Bedtime Partial

Caught him with another big partial right as he went to sleep. Might have been just 5 minutes from the time he went to bed to when I saw him start it.

He’s fine and back asleep again. Just hope this activity can die back down again as we wrap up our stay here.

Surgery Consult

No need major news. Surgeon confirmed his thoughts about the laser surgery and thinks they will be able to get him in around 4 weeks or so. Just don’t want to conflict with his birthday or my helping at church camp.

Removal is still scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and he could be discharged after breakfast.

Grandma is also scheduled to leave Phoenix early afternoon so the timing is super.

Results and Decision

Cameron’s team have reviewed the data in their meeting today and have come together with a consensus path forward.

All of these events have lined with two areas in his brain, one in his insula where he previous surgery was and one a little more forward in his head that showed activity in one of the events.

Because of this consensus and the relatively safety of burning there areas without much last effects to Cam physically, that is their suggestion to do.

We don’t know when a surgery will be scheduled but it may be like 6 weeks or so. They want him to heal from this and remove any infection worries.

When Dr. Adelson comes by later, we will get a feel for timing.

Update

One of the docs from neurosurgery just came by on behalf on Cam’s surgeon to confirm he is getting the probes removed tomorrow afternoon.

We will get more details later today but it does look like they will likely recommend another ablation procedure. I’ll post more details as we know more.
